Writing the final page of Jasper’s Beanstalk

After we saw Nick’s message on the blog we all wrote our own final page for Jasper’s Beanstalk. Please leave a comment to let us know what you think of the work because everyone worked really hard on this today!

2 more games that we used in ICT today

The children used both the desktop and laptop computers in ICT and found out how to move from window to window to play different games. Here are the two of the three games we played today. I will put the links on the right hand side as well.

Building the 3 little pigs’ houses!

We did an experiment to see which materials we could make to stop the Big Bad Wolf blowing the pigs’ houses down. The part of the wolf was played by Mrs Rattray’s hairdryer. The children worked hard building the different houses.

Retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood

The children have done some amazing work today retelling the story of little red riding hood for their friends.

The Gingerbread Man and Little Red Riding Hood

Last week in literacy we looked at the story of the gingerbread man. We used a website to look at the story online. The link to that website below. The children did lots of work on the story and showed that they could sequence the events from the story.

This week we are going to be looking at the story of Little Red Riding Hood, why not have a look at this website that reads the story to you!

Green Group’s story ideas

The children in green group chose the spooky haunted castle for the setting for their own class story out of a selection of possible settings. They then came up with all these ideas for characters who could be in the story.

They then decided that the witch would be the main character and came up with some ideas of what she would be like. She is going to be called Maisy Lil the Witch.

Tomorrow we will be discussing the main events that will take place in the story.

Next half-term topic

Following our work this term on non-traditional stories such as Peter Pan, Finding Nemo and Shrek which the children have absolutely loved, we are going to be looking at traditional tales next half term. It would be great if you could leave a comment telling us your/your children’s favourite traditional tales and we will try and cover them over the next 7 weeks!
